Flying north west of snow covered Mount Amiata - A once active volcano some 300,000 years ago. Mount Amiata is the largest of the lava domes in the Amiata lava dome complex located in the southern Tuscany region of Italy. No eruptive activity has since occurred but thermal activity continues at a geothermal field near the town of Bagnore, at the SW end of the dome complex and many hot springs can be found near the mountain.
